2 year old Kostya needs our help - Updated 11/12/09 and 11/13/09
OBS wants to help 2 year old Kostya who was mentioned in the Visit to Kremenchuk blog entry. Kostya is an angelic little boy (see pictures) who is healthy and developing well, but has cataracts and can not see. While his surgery will be free, it can not take place without money to travel to Kyiv, pay for a nurse's care, and obtain the medicines he will need. Vika is right now working with the Director of the orphange to find out when he can be taken for this surgery.
What we all need to do is help fund the sight giving surgery for this little boy. Without the surgery, he has little hope of being adopted (he is currently available for adoption). 11/12/09 Update - Because of the generosity of many donors, we have managed to raise $400 now for Kostya's medical expenses and are only $250 away from giving a child his sight and an opportunity to eventually be adopted by his forever family.
11/13/09 Update - We did it ! Together we raised the funds to fund the operation to remove Kostya's cataracts. Thank you to each and every one of you who helped by donating or spreading the word.
