Gift from Samantha
Samantha is a little girl who was adopted from the Svalyava Baby Orphanage in 2002. Her mother wrote me looking for a project for Samantha. Her school initiated a project where ‘the kids each bring home a large doll (whose name is “Nobody” and participate in some type of charitable activity. At the conclusion of their project, each child does a scrap book page and story about what they did and they attach something to Nobody to represent the program and event.’
In the end “what Sam and I decided to do was call all our family members and ask for donations [for the Svalyava Baby Orphanage from where she came]. Sam herself has put in $50 from her savings, her brother and sister each put in $25, we put in $100 and between aunts and cousins we raised another $100 for a total of $300. We’d like to direct it towards something specific so Sam can use photos of that item(s) for her scrapbook page.”
I’ve attached a pic of the items I was able to purchase on clearance with the funds. None of them require batteries and they are light, so shipping will be minimal (once the outside packaging was removed).
